Der Sonderforschungsbereich ›Produktion von Migration‹ (SFB 1604) ist ein langfristig angelegter interdisziplinärer Verbund, der innovative Projekte auf dem Gebiet der reflexiven Migrationsforschung bearbeitet. Ziel ist die Erarbeitung einer reflexiven Theorie der gesellschaftlichen Produktion von Migration.
The Collaborative Research Centre ›Production of Migration‹ (CRC 1604) is a long-term interdisciplinary consortium of innovative projects in the field of reflexive migration research. The aim is to jointly develop a reflexive theory of the social production of migration.

The Production of Gender-Differentiating Migration Policies
Within the Collaborative Research Cluster "The Production of Migration", research project B3 analyses the gender-specific production of migration on the basis of migration policies that make a clear distinction between genders. Social negotiations of emigration restrictions for women in India and Nepal and their embedding in the wider migration infrastructure are analysed. It asks how dependent emigration restrictions are on discursive and political conjunctures as well as changing gender relations and what consequences these policies have for the production of migration and those affected by the policies.

Link4Skills is a global research and innovation project on skill shortages. The acronym reflects the discourse and approaches about skill shortages and international labour migration: linking for/4 fair skill matching.
It embeds 4 processes of responding to skill shortages: re/up skilling of established populations (incl. migrants and 'mothers'), raising wages, automation and migration.
It considers 4 continents: Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, where skill shortages and skill flows will be analysed. It develops an AI-Assisted Skill Navigator for stakeholders from employment, vocational training organisations in origins and destinations.

Transnational Perspectives on Migration and Integration (TRANSMIT)
Das Verbundprojekt TRANSMIT der DeZIM-Forschungsgemeinschaft untersucht transnationale Wechselwirkungen von Migrationserfahrungen in Herkunfts-, Transit- und Zielländern. Indem Herkunftskontexte, individuelle Migrationsmotivationen und Erfahrungen auf der Route sowie der gesellschaftliche und politische Umgang mit Migration in den Fokus gerückt werden, trägt TRANSMIT der Komplexität von Migration Rechnung.

MigrantInnenorganisationen und Gewerkschaften in der BRD

Das Projekt untersucht Interaktionen zwischen migrantischen Selbstorganisationen und Gewerkschaften in Westdeutschland in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren anhand von drei lokalen Fallstudien. Ziel des Projektes ist es, Forderungen, Formen und Praktiken migrantischen Aktivwerdens im Verhältnis zu und in Gewerkschaften zu analysieren und ihren Effekten auf die Gewerkschaften nachzugehen.

Das Verbundprojekt untersucht die konkreten Bedingungen, Prozesse und öffentlichen Diskurse der Aufnahme und Integration von Geflüchteten in Niedersachsen. In vier thematischen Teilprojekten wird empirisch untersucht, wie Differenzen und Ungleichheiten in spezifischen Angeboten und Politiken zu Flucht und Migration hergestellt und welche Konflikte und Widersprüche damit wirksam werden. Das Projekt geht der Forschungsfrage nach, welche Handlungsansätze und Strategien zivilgesellschaftliche Initiativen im Kontext von Migrations- und Fluchtregimen entwickeln, um sich angesichts beschränkter Einreisewege und humanitärer Notlagen für einen Zugang zum Schutz für Geflüchtete einzusetzen und Fluchthilfe zu leisten. Taking Sides: Protest Against the Deportation of Asylum Seekers in Austria, Germany and Switzerland (D-A-CH project, DFG, 2013-2017)
The project explores protest against the deportation of rejected asylum seekers in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Deportation has become a central element of immigration control, particularly of asylum seekers whose application has been rejected. At the same time, it can be seen as contradicting the intention of human rights obligations for individuals in need of protection, which raises normative questions related to justice and universal norms vis-à-vis state sovereignty and policy implementation adopted by lawful means.
